Our World Returns in 2021
Kiawah’s Our World lecture series will be returning in January 2021 with a new look, a shortened but in-depth series of very relevant topics, and a range of great speakers of direct interest to Kiawah residents.
Adapting to concerns about coronavirus, the Spring Our World program will be held using Zoom rather than meeting in person.
And since Our World seems to be getting smaller and smaller — no winter cruises in the Caribbean, no visits to exotic worldwide locations — we will be focusing on topics closer to home. Join us as we explore Our Neighborhood — important ideas, issues and speakers who will be discussing some of the major decisions and topics affecting Kiawah and the broader Charleston area.
The first speaker on Thursday, January 21, will be Devri Datoma, Charleston County’s roads project coordinator, who will brief us about the latest traffic proposals affecting Johns Island, a topic of immediate and long term importance to all residents.
Other confirmed speakers will include Roger Warren who will update residents on plans for the PGA and development of the Resort; Maura Hogan, the culture editor of the Post and Courier (think Spoleto); Kylon Middleton,a newly elected and an outspoken member of the Charleston County Council; and Brian Hicks, who has an ongoing Post and Courier series tracing Charleston’s first 350 years. Additional speakers will be announced as they are confirmed.
Stay tuned for more information.
