New Youth Fitness Programming at The Sandcastle

Update: Now through the end of August!

Just in time for summer break, KICA is launching four new small-group youth fitness programs at The Sandcastle. Beginning June 6 through the end of August, certified instructors will guide youth athletes through training classes designed just for them, including yoga (ages 6-8), sports conditioning (ages 9-12), sports performance (ages 13-15) and sports conditioning for injury prevention (ages 16-18).

Like all fitness classes, reservations are required using CourtReserve. Classes range from $15-25 per child and payment will be made directly to KICA’s contractor, Total Fitness Concepts via check or Zelle (available through most banking apps) at check-in. Parents or guardians are asked to remain on The Sandcastle property for the duration of the class. All classes will take place in the group fitness studio and a minimum of six attendees are required for the class to be held.

Youth Yoga: Ages 6-8

Mondays and Thursdays from 2-2:45 p.m. | $15 per child

Instructor: Lauren Vega, 500 Hour Yoga Instructor, NASM and AFAA certified

This yoga class is a great introduction to fitness and wellness. Get your kids moving while introducing the fundamentals and discipline of yoga in a fun inspired atmosphere. Have them take a break from the sun, meet new friends and learn some new skills.

Sports Conditioning: Ages 9-12

Mondays from 5-6 p.m. | $20 per child

Instructor: Stephen Flam NSCA, ACSM, USAW, LMT

Young athletes will develop the conditioning and movement patterns needed for a variety of sports. Interesting and enjoyable training will help them ramp up their cardiovascular, endurance, and strength needs regardless of their game.

Sports Performance: Ages 13-15

Wednesdays from 5-6:15 p.m. | $25 per child

Instructor: Stephen Flam NSCA, ACSM, USAW, LMT

Develop strength, speed, agility, and power needed for sports. All sports are not the same and require different energy and movement patterns. Athletes will learn correct training techniques that will transfer to the court, field, track, or pool to improve their performance and reduce injury.

Sports Conditioning for Injury Prevention: Ages 16-18

Thursdays from 5-6:15 p.m. | $25 per child

Instructor: Stephen Flam NSCA, ACSM, USAW, LMT

This program, geared for older teens, will improve sports or life performance while teaching injury prevention techniques. A functional movement assessment will be given to all participants and appropriate exercises and drills taught to improve power, strength, quickness, explosive movement and deceleration, with the goal of reducing the risk of injury.
