Detour in Place as Allee of Oaks Walkbridge Is Widened

KICA completed the repaving and widening of the Allee of Oaks leisure trail in the spring of 2023. However, the walkbridge that crosses pond 50 is currently about half the width of the 10-foot path, creating a bottleneck in the area. Work to build a new, wider bridge will begin on Monday, Oct. 2*.

During this time, the section of the Allee of Oaks trail between Glen Abbey and Surfsong Road will be closed and a detour down Glen Abbey will be in place through completion, anticipated in November. Signs will be in place in the area to direct members and guests to the detour. Please obey all signage and do not attempt to use the closed trail section while work is underway.

*Due to the Kiawah Island Triathlon route, the start date of this project was delayed one week from the originally communicated Sept. 25 start date.
