Cars on Kiawah Returns to Kiawah Island’s Ocean Park on October 16, 2021

Cars on Kiawah, the popular car show on Kiawah Island, South Carolina returns on October 16th after cancellations due to the Covid-19 virus. When last held in May of 2019, Cars on Kiawah attracted 275 classic and collectible cars and around 4,000 spectators. The show is held at Ocean Park, a beautiful expanse at the eastern end of Kiawah Island adjacent to the famed Ocean Course, home to the recent PGA Championship. The show field will again display some of the region’s most impressive examples of the history and design evolution of the automobile. Organizers report that car registrations have been closed for several weeks and only pre-registered cars will be admitted to the show field.

Ally operates one of the largest full service auto finance operations in the country serving nearly 20,000 dealers and more than 4 million of their customers. Hendrick is the largest private automotive dealer in the United States with a network of 130 dealerships from the Carolinas to California.

“As at prior Cars on Kiawah shows, the October event promises an opportunity for car lovers of all ages to see nearly 300 unique cars in a beautiful setting” said Co-Chair John Wilson.  

Highlights of this year’s show include:

• The spotlight classic auto will be the Porsche 356; thirty examples of this iconic and much celebrated model are expected.
• Our featured collector is Dr. Mike Grosso, a well-known local enthusiast and collector who will display several unique and varied cars from his collection. 
• Automotive historian Harvey Geiger returns as Honorary Chairman. Harvey has published nearly 200 articles and is nationally recognized as an authority on automotive history and car culture. 
• Consistent with the objective of attracting the next generation of enthusiasts, the show will include a “Young Enthusiasts” class and a special display for children. 
• Local television personality and host of “Lowcountry Live” Tom Crawford returns as Master of Ceremonies.
• Sea Islands Habitat for Humanity will be offering a 1958 Metropolitan for sale with100% of the proceeds going to their mission.

Admission to the show is free; there is a $20 per car parking fee. All parking lots are within walking distance to Ocean Park. The show opens to spectators at 10:00AM and ends at 3:00PM.  A variety of food and beverage items will be available.
