You Can Help Restore Our Oyster Reefs!
The Kiawah Conservancy and Kiawah Island Golf Resort have partnered with DNR’s South Carolina Oyster Restoration and Enhancement Program (SCORE) to begin a new reef restoration project and they need your help!
The Conservancy is holding three volunteer sessions on June 12, June 26, and June 28 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. to help construct the Manufactured Wire Reefs (MWR) that will be installed within the marsh at Mingo Point. MWR are an alternative substrate for oyster larvae to land and grow on, and their goal is to build 100 wire reefs to be installed later this year!
