2024 Flood Mitigation Special Assessment – Final Installment
SPECIAL ASSESSMENT – Due: July 7, 2024
The Kiawah Island Community Association has been working to optimize the island’s stormwater drainage system to more quickly and effectively displace water in a heavy rainfall or storm surge event. In 2020, members approved a special assessment to fund six infrastructure improvement projects designed to keep Kiawah’s main roads open to traffic in many heavy rainfall events. This effort represents a foundational step in Kiawah’s water management planning.
These strategic safeguards required a five-year special assessment of $130 per improved property and $65 per unimproved property, billed annually in June through 2024. The final installment of the Flood Mitigation Special Assessment will be charged to your KICA member account on Friday, June 7.
Notices will be emailed to the primary contact of your household. Payment is due by July 7, 2024. (If you purchased your property after May 1, 2020, the balance of the 5-year special assessment should have been paid in full by the previous owner at closing.)
PAY HERE. Need assistance? Contact [email protected] or 843-768-9194.
Five of the six drainage projects are complete and the final project will conclude by the end of the year. Learn more about KICA’s water management efforts, the six infrastructure improvement projects, and more island resilience efforts at kica.us/flood.
