Traffic Delays on Parkway for Tree Removal – Rescheduled to Oct. 9

A contractor for KICA’s Land Management Department will be removing several pine trees adjacent to the leisure trail on Kiawah Island Parkway. The trees were damaged during the recent storm. Work took place on Sept. 26, but the second day has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The work will now take place on Oct. 9.

During this work, there will be intermittent traffic delays on the Kiawah Island Parkway near the first overpass, beginning at 9 a.m. on Oct. 9. Due to the location of these trees, traffic must be stopped to bring the trees down safely. However, staff anticipates approximately three stoppages of 15 minutes each. Crews will be in place directing traffic. Please use caution driving as workers and staff will be close to the roadway.

The leisure trail near hole 3 on the Cougar Point Golf Course will also be closed while work impacting the trail is completed.

Please allow extra time for travel on and off the island during this work. Leisure trail users are asked to obey all signage and not go around any closures. Closures are for your safety.
