The Sandcastle to Remove Reservation Requirement on Most Activities, Extend Hours and Open to Accompanied Guests
In early June, South Carolina’s governor lifted emergency orders in the state. On Monday, June 14, The Sandcastle removed the reservation requirements for general pool and gym use, only maintaining online reservations for lap swim sessions and fitness classes. All members, lineal family members, and guests accompanied by a member (guest fees apply) are invited to enjoy amenities at The Sandcastle. (Note: unaccompanied guests are not permitted at this time.) The clubhouse is open daily from 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
The Oceanview and Family pools are open all summer without reservations (Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), with morning lap swim sessions available by reservation. To use the pools, please bring your Member ID amenity card and check-in at the pool entrance gate. Please note, there is currently no beach access to or from the pool using Boardwalk 8A.
Members are invited to use the gym (weight and cardio room) without reservations or pick up a book from the lending library during the 7 a.m.-6 p.m. operating hours. Members using the gym will be asked to check-in at the lobby with their Member ID amenity card. The gym remains closed to after-hours access. Fitness classes will still require online reservations to attend to ensure capacity is not exceeded. See the fitness schedule and make your reservation here.
While the association will continue to regularly sanitize shared spaces and equipment at The Sandcastle, we ask that members stay home if they are symptomatic and to maintain six feet of physical distance with other households. Face coverings are not required at KICA facilities, but are encouraged for those who are unvaccinated.
These changes to protocols have been made with consideration to CDC guidelines, and with oversight from MUSC’s “back-to-business” program and an advising member physician.
