Kiawah Island Marathon Races Onto Kiawah – Dec. 9

The 45th annual Kiawah Island Golf Resort Marathon will be held on Saturday, Dec. 9. The race will start and finish at the West Beach Conference Center, with runners on the roads between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. See complete information here.

Please use extreme caution on the island if you are driving during the race, as participants and spectators may be crossing the roadways.

Race Day Road Closures

Kiawah Island Parkway | 7:50-9 a.m.
Governors Drive (Vanderhorst Gate to 1^st Flyway Drive) | 8:15-9:15 a.m.
Governors Drive (1^st Flyway to Ocean Course Drive) | 8:20-9:45 a.m.
Ocean Course Drive | 8:30- 10 a.m.

Commercial Work Closure

Commercial work will not be permitted on Kiawah Island the day of the event (Saturday, Dec. 9), except for emergency repairs. All emergency access must be approved by KICA’s director of Security.

Sandcastle Delayed Opening – 2 p.m.

Due to the Kiawah Island Marathon, the Sandcastle will open at 2 p.m. instead of 7 a.m. All fitness classes are cancelled.

Because of the marathon route, no parking is permitted in the Sandcastle parking lot while the facility is closed. Owners of cars parked in the lot while the facility is closed will be contacted by KICA Security. Cars may be towed if the owners cannot be reached.

The Sandcastle will close at its regular time, 6 p.m.
