Holiday Events Around the Island
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! But then, it always is on Kiawah!
As hard as it is to believe, the holiday season is here and the end of the year is just around the corner. If you’re lucky enough to be on Kiawah, there are some fun, family-friendly events going on through the new year.
Freshfields Village
Holiday Starlight Cinema | Saturday, Dec. 16 | 6 p.m.
The outdoor movie series featuring The Santa Clause. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy the family-friendly movie under the stars.
Letters to Santa Dropoff | Through Tuesday, Dec. 19
There’s still time to get your letters in to Santa! The special reindeer postal service at Freshfields Village will accept letters until Tuesday, Dec. 19 and get them to the North Pole in time for the big day.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort

New Year’s Eve Family Celebration | Sunday, Dec. 31 | 6-9 p.m. | Night Heron Park
Ring in 2023 with friends and family, featuring glow golf, music and fireworks. Full à la carte dinner service available until 9 p.m. Don’t forget to stay for firework starting promptly at 9 p.m. The evening is full of entertainment suitable for families and groups of all ages.
The New Year’s Eve Family Celebration at Night Heron Park is limited to Kiawah Island guests and residents. This event is complimentary, no reservations required. Food and glow gear available for purchase. Schedule subject to change.
NYE at The Sanctuary Lobby Bar | Sunday, Dec. 31 | Open 2 p.m. – 12 a.m. | Music at 8 p.m.
Come out to Lobby Bar before and after your dining plans. Enjoy specialty cocktails and spectacular live music as you count down to the New Year. All guests are welcome to dance the night away to Andrew Thielen Big Band and raise a glass of champagne to the New Year under the stars of the Grand Lawn. The Sanctuary Lobby Bar event is limited to Kiawah Island guests and residents–gate access will be closed to the public for this event. No outside alcoholic beverages, please.
New Year’s Day 5K | Monday, Jan. 1 | 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Sanctuary Beach Access
No better way to ring in the New Year than with a beach fun run! This fun run will begin at the Sanctuary beach access, running east toward the Ocean Course 0.5 miles or 1.55 miles, turning around and heading back to the finish line of the Sanctuary Hotel.
Polar Plunge | Monday, Jan. 1 | 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. | Sanctuary Beach Access
Plunge into the New Year at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Polar Bear Plunge. Come and celebrate new beginnings on Kiawah’s beach, just in front of the hotel to take a dip into The Atlantic. All participants must bring their own towel to this event.
