The Town of Kiawah has discovered two small sinkholes have formed on the inbound lane of Beachwalker Drive between the KICA entrance and the first Inlet Cove entrance. That section of the inbound lane up to Beachwalker County Park has been closed. The town’s contractor has inspected Beachwalker Drive and found a faulty pipe underneath the roadway, which compromised the subsurface where the two small sinkholes were found.

Contractors will be onsite over the next two days to replace the pipe, repair the holes, and repave that portion of the road. A portion of the inbound lane between KICA and Inlet Cove will remain closed until the repairs are complete. Residents that must use that section of Beachwalker Drive should proceed with caution and use the alternate lane. Any unnecessary traffic should avoid the area.
