The Association Removes Face Covering Requirement at KICA Facilities after Town Rescinds Ordinance

This week, South Carolina’s Governor issued an Executive Order that removes the authority of state and local municipalities to regulate the use of face coverings, turning over authority to private entities and individual businesses. As a result, Kiawah’s Town Council rescinded their ordinance requiring face coverings in public spaces. Effective immediately, KICA no longer requires a face covering to enter association facilities, including The Sandcastle and Beachwalker Center. All other association restrictions (ex. reduced occupancy) and protocols (ex. required activity reservations, sanitization procedures) remain in place. KICA strongly encourages members to continue to wear face-coverings in public places where social distancing is difficult and to take appropriate precautions to protect yourself until the threat of COVID-19 subsides.
