Bright & Beautiful: Roadside Beds Get a Seasonal Burst of Color

Keep a lookout for some new growth popping up around the island, as colorful tropical plants are making their way into roadside beds near you. KICA’s Land Management Department plants common properties along the island’s primary corridors each spring and fall. Our in-house design team, Toni Weidick and Michael Weidick, typically collaborate on these bright and beautiful beds, under the supervision of Leila Gable, Land Management Supervisor.

Images on this page are of the new design at the Kiawah Island Parkway and second Sea Forest intersection, designed by Toni Weidick to showcase colorful blooms set in a foundation of greenery. The design means there’s something to see out your window all the way down KICA’s median.

During this time, our team may be planting close to road. Please use caution while driving when crews are working on the roadsides.
