Junior Explorers: Birds at the Beach

Join the Kiawah Conservancy for a morning all about shorebirds!

Kiawah author Lisa Donovan will read her newest book, Birds at the Beach and Beyond. Nolan Schillerstrom, the Coastal Program Manager of South Carolina Audubon, will offer details about local shore and marsh birds and how to protect them. Then, illustrator Dee Paras will show how she worked with an ornithologist to paint and cut paper collages for the book’s illustrations.

All participants will create their own bird collages with provided materials. This introduction to Kiawah birds enables young imaginations to take wing! All Junior Explorers will go home with a bird checklist, coloring pages, and a bird bookmark!
