Kiawah Conservancy Preserves Second Johns Island Property

Article Provided by the Kiawah Conservancy

The Kiawah Conservancy is excited to announce the preservation of its second property on Johns Island–4346 Betsy Kerrison Parkway! This property includes 76.1 acres of upland and lowland marsh. It contains several hummock islands, marsh edge habitats, and protects over 300 feet of viewsheds along Betsy Kerrison Parkway. The property serves as a refuge, travel corridor, and nesting area for a variety of resident and migratory wildlife species.

Johns Island is the gateway to our community. It embodies a disappearing Lowcountry landscape. We know that growth is inevitable, but smart growth that protects wildlife and their habitats and preserves our way of life is crucial. If this land is not protected now, it will only be a matter of time before development has a detrimental impact. This is why the Kiawah Conservancy has launched the Keep Betsy Beautiful Campaign!

To learn more about the Keep Betsy Beautiful Campaign check out this video or join the Kiawah Conservancy for a Keep Betsy Beautiful information session on November 14, November 28, or December 5. Register to attend one of the information sessions HERE and do your part to help preserve this vital part of our community.
