Winter Weather Means Staffing Changes at the Gate and Outdoor Restroom & Shower Closures

Temperatures dropped for the first time in the new year this week, and Kiawah is still experiencing temperatures that are below average for this time of year. During Kiawah’s rare freezing weather, KICA staff make changes to limit damage to association property and discomfort to team members.

The first area you’ll likely see changes is at KICA’s security gates. When temperatures are 40 degrees or below, officers stand inside the Main Gate and V-Gate kiosks to limit exposure. Officers will still come out to address any issues or answer questions.

During freezing weather, all boardwalk spray stations and showers will also be unavailable.

The outdoor restrooms at Cinder Creek and Rhett’s Bluff will be closed until Monday, Jan. 13.
