Winter Storm Enzo
Kiawah awoke to approximately three inches of snow and ice on Wednesday, Jan. 22 – the first frozen accumulation since 2018. Aside from the diligent workers plowing roads, Kiawah was a quiet winter wonderland. KICA’s contractor cleared the Kiawah Island Parkway, Governors Drive and Ocean Course Drive. The town’s contractor cleared the parkway from the main gate to Freshfields Village.
On Thursday, surfaces hardened with Wednesday’s melt and the overnight refreeze. Again contractors continued to clear roads, salting main roads once again and plowing several secondary roads throughout the island.

Black ice is expected Friday morning and night, as the melt and freeze cycle continues. Forgo travel if possible. Use extreme caution if you venture out.
