Support Education on the Sea Islands With Kiawah Cares

This May, Kiawah Cares is kicking off a crucial fundraising campaign supporting educational opportunities on Johns and Wadmalaw islands. To continue supporting important changes in island schools, we’ll need to raise at least $225,000 during our 6-week campaign.

What types of programs will the fundraiser support? Educational programs on Johns and Wadmalaw islands. These programs cover three general areas: basic support (books, literacy, student support), arts and enrichment programs (music and/or art workshops, field trips) and programming advances (funding new programs, such as the Mt. Zion STEM lab).

What is so important about these programs? Results for our students, that’s the bottom line. With every fundraiser, we choose to support partners and programs that are proving that success is not just possible but probable. For example, Communities In Schools (CIS) has been tackling the root causes of school failure in the area since 1989. Thirty years later, the organization helps student overcome the emotional, behavioral and academic barriers that are holding them back. Their stats back up their methods: 100% percent of CIS-enrolled seniors graduated and 98% of other grades were promoted in the 2017-2018 school year. This kind of success is too good not to share! Part of Kiawah Cares’ fundraising efforts go toward putting a CIS student support specialist in all five island schools.

Why should you give now? Timing is key! School isn’t out yet but our island educators are already making big plans for the 2019-2020 school year. By committing funding early, we are able to ensure critical programming is in place when school starts again in August. Our partner programs can make the difference between success and failure for island students. Join us in the journey to success by making your donation today! Want more info?
