Summer Season See Increase in Violation Enforcement
Summer’s first Security Report shows an increase in violations around the island, with 453 total violations in June. These were addressed by KICA’s Security Department through a combination of verbal contacts, written warnings, and penalty citations. This was an increase from 282 violations in May.
Parking once again topped the list, with 332 (73%) of the total violations. Parking is consistently the top offense on the island and our Security team reminds you not to park on island easements, the most common parking violation. Learn more about island parking rule here.
For the first time in 2024, Security reported noise violations. Remember that quiet hours are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
While there were only 11 violations for joggers and bicyclists on roadways, this action can represent a serious safety hazard. Joggers and bicyclists are required to use a leisure trail where available. For your safety, only vehicles are permitted on the Kiawah Island Parkway, Governor’s Drive, Ocean Course Drive and the cross-island portion of Flyway Drive. (Drivers share the road with cyclists on the portion of Flyway Drive shown above, as indicated by the sharrow.) See Section 3 of the Rules & Regulations for more information.
The Main Gate traffic increased from 2022 and 2023; 250,182 vehicles passed through the gate in June. 131,566 vehicles passed through the Vanderhorst Gate.
