Severe Weather Notice: Heavy Rainfall and Wind Gusts Expected Wednesday and Thursday
A coastal low-pressure system is expected to impact our area beginning Wednesday and continuing into Thursday. Community members should be aware of the following potential conditions:
-
Heavy Rainfall: 1–3 inches expected, with isolated totals over 5 inches possible. Minor flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas may occur.
-
Strong Winds: Gusts up to 40 mph possible, especially along the coast. Some tree limbs could come down, with isolated power outages.
-
Rip Current Risk: A moderate risk is already in effect for all beaches, which may increase to high as conditions develop.
-
Marine Conditions: Increased winds and seas (4–6 feet) could lead to hazardous boating conditions. Small Craft Advisories may be issued.
While there is a slight chance the system could become tropical, expected impacts will be similar either way. Stay tuned to weather.gov/chs/briefing for updates. The next official update will be issued by 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 3.
