Security Report Shows More Violations Caught in 2024
In January, KICA calculates both its December and annual Security metrics. Covering areas like the volume of traffic through each of KICA’s two security gates, passes issued and covenant violations, the report gives a snapshot of the year in Security as a whole.
KICA’s 2024 Security Report shows that violation reports reached a three-year high last year. Six of the eleven categories were higher in 2024 than in either 2023 or 2022. 3,318 total violations were recorded by our Security team. 49% of those resulted in a penalty citation. Others received a written warning or a verbal contact to review the nature of the violation and discuss resolution. In 2024, efforts were made to increase the association’s patrol staff. The increased presence on the island resulted in more enforcement actions than previous years.
Kiawah was popular once again; 2.3 million vehicles passed through the Main Gate for the year, an increase of nearly 100,000 from the previous year. Vehicles through the island’s second Vanderhorst Gate were down from 2023.

December was a slower month, continuing a downward trend in both vehicles through the Main Gate and violations issued. Consistent with the rest of 2024, parking was December’s highest violation category.
