Quarterly Brown Trash, Paper Shredding and Hazardous Waste Collection Services 

On Thursday, Sept. 12, the Town of Kiawah Island’s quarterly brown trash curbside collection will take place. The same day, dispose of old documents and hazardous waste at Town Hall (4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway) from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. 

 

What qualifies as brown trash or hazardous waste?

 

BROWN TRASH 

Collected Quarterly – Curbside by 7 a.m.

Brown trash includes lawn chairs, grills (no propane tanks), folding or beach chairs, mattresses & box springs (single or twin only), bicycles, strollers, lamps, patio furniture, small area rugs, and small appliances (vacuums, toaster ovens, toasters, microwaves, coffee pot).

 

PAPER SHRED AND HAZARDOUS WASTE

Collected Quarterly – Town Hall (4475 Betsy Kerrison Parkway)

Paper shredding includes all paper documents. Hazardous waste includes electronics, household cleaners and polishes, pesticides, repellents, batteries, used motor oil, compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL), paints, and solvents. View the full list here

 

Solid Waste Services

The Town of Kiawah Island is responsible for all solid waste services, including regular garbage, recycling and yard debris collection services. Basic collection services are complimentary for property owners. For additional services, such as backdoor garbage collection, twice-a-week garbage collection, or an additional cart or recycling cart, the town provides a $263 credit to each property owner household. \
