Provide Your Thoughts on the 2025 Proposed Minor Updates to Sandcastle Access Policies

In anticipation of another busy summer season at the Sandcastle, KICA’s Amenities Experience Committee recommended several tweaks to the Sandcastle access policies. Each year, the committee, with staff input, evaluates the previous year’s success and makes changes as needed. Access policies are in place in KICA’s most limited amenities, like the Sandcastle gym and Oceanview Adult Pool, to prevent overcrowding and ensure member access.

This year, the committee recommended these updates:

• Make access consistent throughout the day. In 2024, some regulations changed after 5 p.m., which was difficult for members to remember and for staff to enforce. The committee recommends removing time-based access.
• Lower the minimum age in the gym from 18 to 16. Families who want to work out with their children in the Sandcastle gym requested this change.
• Allow 1 accompanied guest per household per day in the gym. Previously, guests were only allowed in the gym after 5 p.m.
• In-season (Memorial Day through Labor Day) at the Oceanview Adult Pool:
  • Members may bring 2 accompanied guests per household per day.
  • No unaccompanied guests are permitted.
