Main Road Corridor: Segment C Gets More Analysis Following Community Comments
Following more than four years of work, the Post and Courier reports that Charleston County is reconsidering one segment of its Main Road improvement project (PAYWALL). The Main Road Corridor includes Main Road, the intersection of Maybank Highway, and Bohicket Road to Betsy Kerrison.
The county revealed its preferred alternative in May 2024, and collected feedback through June 14. The feedback was not promising, with the Post and Courier reporting that “A county review of 430 public comments that followed an open house earlier this year found that just 23 percent supported the county’s preferred road plan, 41 percent opposed it, and the rest wanted changes.” View the comment analysis here.
A representative of the county’s Public Works department stated, “I think it’s premature to approve the project as currently designed.”
