KICA Begins Its 2023 Budget Process

The process of stewarding millions of dollars annually to maintain Kiawah Island is lengthy and thoughtful. Budget planning occurs throughout the year, but the first draft for the upcoming year is created in October and finalized and approved by the board in early December.

To create the first draft, KICA staff evaluate operational needs and identify potential improvements to the organization’s functionality, efficiency and services. This step is underway now. Immediately afterward, a draft will be created and, throughout October, revised by senior leadership. The Finance Committee will conduct a review of the draft budget at its October meeting.

After additional refinement by the Finance Committee and the leadership team, the budget will be presented to the community on Monday, Nov. 14. The final budget is scheduled to go to the board for approval on Monday, Dec. 5.
