KICA and the Kiawah Island Garden Club Special Event: Monarchs and Milkweed

Please join the member of the Monarch Project and other members of the community for a presentation on the future of our island’s Monarch butterfly habitat.

Monarch butterflies are on the decline. What can Kiawah Island do as a community to help them survive? Billy McCord, biologist with the Department of Natural Resources and a leading expert on monarchs and milkweed, has a few surprising ideas on the subject. Please join us at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 29 at The Sandcastle for a thought-provoking presentation. If we’re lucky, we’ll also get to watch him tag and release some monarchs.
