Keep Employees Safe While Roadside Bed Planting Is Underway

While Kiawah’s landscape palette is primarily natural, focal point landscape beds allow for vibrant annuals and other plants that create a beautiful contrast. Each spring and fall, KICA’s Land Management team refreshes the beds, many of which line Kiawah’s primary thoroughfares. KICA’s Director of Land Management, Doug Walter, notes that “in everything we do, we want to promote sustainable practices, blending colorful tropicals with foundations of native plants.” The updates create a special experience, with new blooms popping up as the weather warms. 

Beds are located close to roadways to maximize the impact for members, but it also means that workers must plant close to passing traffic. Traffic cones and safety vests make employees more visible, but we ask that you help keep KICA employees safe by slowing down and exercising caution when passing workers.
