Island Projects Get Underway in 2023

Timber replacement at the Summer Islands vehicular bridge is now underway. The work involves closing down a portion of one of the lanes while allowing vehicle traffic to pass. Members crossing the bridge are asked to drive with caution while this project is underway. Completion is anticipated by mid-June.

On Friday, Jan. 20, right of way pruning will begin on the Kiawah Island Parkway and Governor’s Drive. This project will require a lane closure while it moves up the island’s main thoroughfares from the Main Gate to the first Flyway intersection. During this time, flaggers will be in place to direct traffic. Members may experience delays in the area as crews work during commercial access hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday). This work is expected to take one month to complete.
