Fall 2024 Paving Schedule

This fall, 15 neighborhood roads in the island’s eastern half will be milled and replaced. This work will begin on Monday, Sept. 16 and is expected to be complete by the end of October. During the repaving, roads will remain open and accessible, but members can expect brief traffic delays.

The following roads are scheduled for fall 2024 milling and replacement:

Blue Heron Pond Road (portion of road – right arm only)
Bull Thistle
Chinaberry Lane
Club Cottage Lane
Eagle Point Road
Grey Fox Den
Marsh Elder Court
Moon Tide Lane
Osprey Cottage Land
Savanna Point
Sawgrass Lane
Shell Creek Landing
Surfsong Road
Virginia Rail
Wax Myrtle Court

Most of Kiawah Island’s roads inside the Main Gate are owned and maintained by the community association. Roads are comprehensively evaluated and rated every two years by outside engineers. All roads below the engineering standard of “good” are slated for milling and replacement, and the work is ongoing.

During repaving, members can expect to maintain access to their homes. Roads will first be milled, creating a rough and uneven surface, and a small lip between the road and a driveway. When milling is complete, the road will be paved. Members should drive very slowly (5 mph) in construction areas and expect one lane of traffic with brief traffic delays. Delays in the project schedule may occur if weather conditions impede paving. Detailed communications will be shared with members on roads scheduled for repaving.
