Board Votes to Approve Duneside MOU Waiver Requested by Kiawah Partners
At a special meeting on Monday, March 3, the KICA board of directors voted to approve a temporary waiver of several restrictions outlined in a 2018 Memorandum of Understanding between the association and Kiawah Partners (KP). The vote was 5-1-1. Paul Hennessy voted against approval. Amanda Mole abstained as the developer’s representative.
Since the Feb. 10 board meeting, changes made to the document include:
-
- Limiting hours for deliveries.
- Kiawah Island Club drivers will concede the right of way to all pedestrians and bicyclists on Duneside Road.
- The Kiawah Island Club will add safety cones at pedestrian crossings for all weekends and holidays.
- The Kiawah Island Club will provide a call # for members for any immediate issues or concerns with safety or their transportation system.
- An additional review date of May 15 was added to address any areas of improvement needed.
KP made the request in an effort to open the Cape Club in 2025 while road and parking improvements required by the Town of Kiawah Island are made. Following the waiver approval, the Cape Club will seek a temporary certificate of occupancy from the town.
