August Security Report Shows Island Traffic Slows As The Season Cools Off

In August, KICA Security welcomed 201,039 vehicles through the Main Gate and 102,028 vehicles through the Vanderhorst Gate (V-Gate) – averaging nearly 6,485 vehicles per day coming onto the island. As the summer season winds down we typically see island traffic start to slow in August, and August 2024 actually had lower traffic than it did in 2023 or 2022.

7,942 non-cost passes, which include member guest, resort day, renter, special event and other pass types, were issued during the month, along with 2,804 paid commercial passes. Approximately 80% of paid commercial passes were for a 4-Wheel Day pass, which cost a commercial customer $20.

345 violations were reported. In line with the rest of 2024, the vast majority of the violations were for parking. Most other violations were in the pass, miscellaneous and trailer at residence categories.
