Art on Wheels Rolls Onto Kiawah
Car enthusiasts from across the region will gather on Kiawah this spring for the Kiawah Island Motoring Retreat and Concours (KIMR). From April 15-17, this celebration of outstanding and unique automobiles will feature a range of events and outings, both large and small, culminating with a world-class Concours main event at Ocean Park, near the entrance to the Ocean Course.
Other events during the fun-filled weekend include:
Friday, April 15
A scenic motoring tour through Johns, Wadmalaw and Kiawah islands, with a stop at Firefly Distillery for lunch and a moonshine tasting. Limited to 50 classic cars and one passenger per car.
Seminars for enthusiasts on classic car valuation trend and the art of detailing your favorite car.
A very special dinner and wine tasting at the Briar’s Creek Club. Limited to 60 people.
A traditional Lowcountry oyster roast/shrimp boil at Rhett’s Bluff Boat Landing and Pavilion, featuring a beer tasting from Charleston’s Palmetto Brewery and live music. Limited to 200 tickets.
Saturday, April 16
Cars on Kiawah will take place on the show field at Ocean Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nearly 20 local and regional car clubs, as well as individual enthusiasts, will bring over 200 diverse and cool cars to the park. Admission to the event is free. There is a $5 fee for parking. The park will have vendors, great food options and other attractions from event sponsors.
A traditional barbecue and bourbon tasting on the show field at Ocean Park, also accompanied by live music. Limited to 250 attendees.
Sunday, April 17
Sunday is the main event with a world class Concours show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ocean Park. These cars represent the best of the best, most with values of several hundred thousand dollars and up. The event will be a fully judged with awards for best of each car class and best of show. There will also be a homes tour provided by Kiawah Island Real Estate (limited tickets).

KIMR is a non-profit organization and a portion of proceeds from the event will benefit local organizations including Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic, Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding Program, Kiawah Conservancy and The Kiawah Women’s Foundation – Backpack Buddies.
The event will feature nationally recognized judges, automobile museum curators, authors and collectors, including the master of ceremonies Keith Martin, publisher of two popular enthusiast magazines and co-host of Velocity Network’s highly rated What’s My Car Worth television series.
