Submit Your Candidacy for the Board of Directors in the 2025 Special Election
Following approval of the covenant amendments in February, all seven of KICA’s board of directors will now be elected by the membership. A special election will be conducted in 2025 to fill the seat now held by developer director Amanda Mole, who completes her service on April 15.
The special election process gets underway next week. Board candidacy submissions open Tuesday, April 1 and will be accepted through Friday, April 18. One seat on the KICA board of directors will be filled through the special election (May 30 – June 30, 2025). The elected director will serve beginning at the board of directors meeting on Monday, July 7, through the March 2028 Annual Meeting.
Key Dates
Any member running for the 2025 special election must submit their candidacy by Friday, April 18.
- Tuesday, April 1 – Submissions OPEN
- Friday, April 18 at 5 p.m. – Submissions CLOSE
Candidates are required to participate in a brief video interview and a Meet the Candidates event. The video interview is recorded by staff and published online. Candidates receive the video interview questions in advance. The Meet the Candidates event is a live event with a moderator and member-submitted questions.
- Friday, May 2 – Video interview and portrait photo at The Sandcastle
- Wednesday, May 28 at 1 p.m. – Meet the Candidates at Beachwalker Center
2025 Board of Directors Special Election Timeline
- Tuesday, April 15, 2025 – Date of Record (property owners of this date vote in the 2025 special election)
- Friday, May 30, 2025 at 12 p.m. – Voting OPENS
- Monday, June 30, 2025 at 12 p.m. – Voting CLOSES
- Tuesday, July 1, 2025 – Voting results announced
- Monday, July 7 – Director-elect seated

The candidacy submission form will prompt the creation of your public candidacy statement. You’ll be asked to summarize the following:
- Background and Experience
- Relevant professional and leadership experience

- Prior board or committee roles
- Reason for Running
- Motivation for seeking a position on the board

- Top priorities for the association (e.g., governance, infrastructure, community engagement)
- Plans to maintain or improve quality of life
- Approach to Leadership & Decision-Making
- How do you intend to collaborate with property owners and board members?
