Annual Pine Straw Refresh Underway on the Island in May

The KICA Land Management is hard at work preparing plant beds for the annual pine straw application around the island, which begins next week. An association contractor will be spreading new pine straw along main road easements to prevent weed intrusion. 

Please be aware that crews will be working very close to the edges of the Kiawah Island Parkway through next week. Drivers are urged to slow down, remain alert, and proceed with caution when traveling through these work zones. You can expect brief traffic delays.

After the parkway is complete, the team will move to Governors Drive through the end of May.
