St. Philip’s Tea Room Excursion
Wednesday, May 1, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
May 1-3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. | Pick-up and Drop-off at The Sandcastle | $25 Shuttle Ride (Lunch Cost Additional)
If you’ve never experienced a Charleston tea room, it’s time. It has little to do with tea, and much more to do with a delectable lowcountry lunch, desserts and community.
Each year, churches around Charleston host tea rooms, or pop-up restaurants where classic Southern recipes are prepared and served by members of the congregation. The tea rooms are known for their charming atmosphere, crowd-pleasing favorites like ham biscuits, okra soup, chicken salad, and Huguenot Torte.
The St. Philip’s Tea Room offers a lowcountry lunch (menu) from April 29-May 3. KICA COO Jimmy Bailey is a member of St. Philip’s and invites Kiawah property owners to experience this special Charleston tea room tradition.
KICA is offering a roundtrip shuttle ride to St. Philip on May 1-3 for $25 per person. (Please note that lunch is an additional cost. See menu.) Take a friend or small group of up to eight in the comfort of KICA’s luxury Mercedes Sprinter. The KICA shuttle will leave The Sandcastle at 11 a.m. and return by 2 p.m. After enjoying lunch outside in the courtyard or inside with live music, you still may have enough time to stroll around the block to see Charleston in bloom and walk off your dessert.
On Thursday, May 2, Jimmy Bailey will host a tea room table for Kiawah guests to join, enjoy and hear more about this lowcountry tradition.
To reserve your seat, email [email protected], provide the date you wish to attend (May 1-3) and the number in your party.
