Our World Season Kick Off

Our World is a complimentary educational lecture series produced by KICA that provides members with presentations by local experts on a wide variety of subjects. The Our World season launches in the fall and runs through April. All presentations are held at 3 p.m. at the Sandcastle.
The season kicks off with an exploration of the end of life with Bonnie Compton, who works as an end of life doula. A sought-after speaker, author and researcher, Bonnie seeks to offer support and resources to help individuals and families navigate end of life decisions. As a trained counselor and nurse, Bonnie has spent more than 30 years working with families going through serious challenges and stressful events.
Bonnie believes that it is important that individuals and families have conversations about death and about the decisions that often precede such a difficult time. For example:
- How should those conversations be structured?
- What kinds of decisions should be discussed?
- What can be done to provide the best support during an often emotional time?
Most importantly, she suggests that thinking about such decisions for themselves and for family members will allow individuals to enrich their current lives.
