Your Oceanfront Clubhouse
The Sandcastle is where community members gather for fun in the sun, a refreshing dip one of the two pools, convenient access to the beach, an empowering workout, club and group gatherings and family celebrations.
The Sandcastle is the Kiawah Island Community Association's oceanside clubhouse open to all association members. Member amenities include meeting and event spaces with views of the Atlantic, a fitness center, an oceanfront, waterfall edge swimming pool, a spacious family pool and a summer season restaurant and bar.

With a variety of fitness and social activities, a gym, two pools, seasonal dining, and meeting and event space, there's more to share with your loved ones than just the view.
Pools At The Sandcastle
The Sandcastle offers two incredible swimming experiences.
During the summer season, food and drink service is available from The Castle Grille and Sandbar.
Family Pool and Children's Pool
The family pool is the largest pool featuring lanes for lap swimming and plenty of room for water activities and enjoyment. Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper and swim liner. An outdoor restroom is located next to the Castle Grille. Boardwalk 8A leads to the beach from the family pool.
The Oceanview Adult Pool
The Oceanview Pool features views of the Atlantic and a waterfall edge. An outdoor bathhouse provides convenient restrooms and showers. An adjacent summer-season bar (ages 21+) shares the deck, putting a refreshing cocktail or beverage practically within reach. Summer season access is reserved for members and their two guests only.
Fitness
Gym and Fitness Classes
The Sandcastle's members-only boutique fitness studio includes a small gym with cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, and a fitness classroom. Group fitness classes are offered daily. Working out is a little easier with sweeping views of the ocean throughout the fitness center.
The gym is open to member walk-ins 18+ during operating hours. Fitness classes require online reservations to ensure capacity is not exceeded.

Pool Rules
Check in at the pool kiosk or Sandcastle front desk.
Members must be at least 16 to check in but have unlimited access to the facility, provided they meet an amenity’s particular age requirements.
Personal speakers are not permitted.
No running on the pool deck.
No glass is permitted in the pool area.
Children who are not toilet trained must wear a swim diaper and swim liner.
No large floats toys permitted.
No bikes permitted in the pool area.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
Chairs are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reserving chairs is not permitted.
The Sandcastle is a family-friendly facility; traditional swimwear is required.
Castle Grille and Sandbar
Have a bite and a drink as you relax by the pool.
Enjoy an ocean breeze while you dine for lunch at the Castle Grille and sip on something cool from the Sandbar. Through the summer season, the poolside bar and grille mean you don't have to stop the fun early.

Gather, Connect and Celebrate
The Sandcastle is host to many community events, meetings, programs and private celebrations in the oceanview clubhouse rooms, on the veranda and around the pool deck. The association also offers event and meeting space at Beachwalker Center and the Cinder Creek Pavilion.

Access The Sandcastle
The Sandcastle is a private facility for members of the community association.
New Modified Access Policies
Modified access policies will go into effect on April 8, 2024. Learn about the new modified policies here. Below are the current policies.
KICA Member Households
KICA members 18+ are welcome to enjoy The Sandcastle’s amenities by checking in at the front desk with their photo ID or Sandcastle ID. Member dependents under 18 must be checked in by an eligible member or nonmember with complimentary access.
Nonmembers with Complimentary Access
Direct family members (parents, adult children, or grandchildren) and designated households may access The Sandcastle unaccompanied. These nonmembers must be submitted in advance to have access to the facility.
Members with direct family may submit those within their member account (visit kica.us/login). Members without direct family (grandparents, adult children, or grandchildren) may apply for a complimentary access exemption. Learn more and apply here.
Once access for direct family or designated households (for those without direct family) is confirmed, nonmembers with complimentary access must check in with a photo ID.
Accompanied Guests
Members may authorize accompanied guests for a fee of $10. Limit 8 guests per household per day. Nonmembers with complimentary access may not bring guests. Unaccompanied guests are not permitted.
