The Town of Kiawah Island has contributed $45,000 over three years to Sea
Island Habitat for Humanity (SIHH) for the construction of an affordable
house at Joeva Court in West Ashley. (For those of you who volunteered for
Habitat's WomenBuild in May, this is the same street where we worked then.)
Initial groundbreaking and foundation work started in September and framing
is expected to be underway in mid-October. The Town of Kiawah Island is
looking for volunteers from our Island to work on Friday, October 14th,
which has been designated "Kiawah House Build Day." SIHH will supply
tools, aprons and supervision. The Town will supply "Kiawah House Build"
t-shirts and lunch onsite.
Volunteer shift hours are full-day (from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.) or half-day (from
8 a.m. - noon OR noon - 4 p.m.). All volunteers are asked to arrive 15
minutes before the start of their scheduled shifts. The actual street
address of the house is 1120 Reverend Heyward Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call Stephanie Braswell at
the Town (843.768.9166) or e-mail her at

Please provide your name, phone number, t-shirt size and shift
