Conservation Matters: Protecting the Lowcountry’s Marine Mammals

Tuesday, Apr 16, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Come meet Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network (LMMN) Executive Director Lauren Rust and learn how the LMMN is working to protect marine mammals around the Lowcountry through science, education, and conservation. The LMMN provides a variety of educational programs throughout the Charleston area including the Kiawah Island Dolphin Education Program.

Funded by a grant from the Town of Kiawah Island, the Kiawah Island Dolphin Education Program is now in its second year. The program’s objectives are to educate beach visitors about strand feeding dolphins and federal guidelines and to encourage onlookers to give the dolphins the space they need to feed. Join us to hear about findings from last years program, learn more about Kiawah’s local dolphins STEP, Hook and KoKo, understand why strand feeding might be threatened, and learn how you can help.

Register your attendance today for this FREE program online at www.kiawahconservancy.org or by contacting the Kiawah Conservancy at [email protected] or 843-768-2029.
