Java With Jimmy

Have a cup of coffee with KICA COO Jimmy Bailey on Thursday, Oct. 19! This informal Q & A session gives members the opportunity to share their thoughts and get answers to their questions.

This session, the last of 2017, will focus on the KICA budget.

Sea Islands Parkinson’s Support Group

The Sea Islands Parkinson’s Support Group (SIPS) meets on the third Thursday of every month at 2:30 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, 4416 Betsy Kerrison Parkway, Johns Island. Those diagnosed with PD, whether full- or part-time residents, as well as their Care Partners are welcome. Sessions will be informal, with perhaps a guest speaker from time-to-time. If there is interest, a separate group for Care Partners may evolve as well. Sessions are open to all, although the main focus is on residents of Kiawah, Seabrook, Johns and Wadmalaw islands. There are no dues, and RSVPs are not required.

Read this detailed article to learn more about this support group. For questions, contact Floyd DeAndrade at deandrsj@comcast.net.

Our World

Our Island’s Main Street: What’s New, What’s Next at Freshfields

For most residents of Kiawah and Seabrook, Freshfields is the closest thing to their hometown Main Street. It’s the place to go to meet friends for dinner or a glass of wine, buy those special family gifts, mail a last minute wedding present or check out the latest beach fashions. A great independent book store, a much-needed pet supply store, a new spa, a recently opened fusion restaurant — our local shopping complex has become an important lynchpin in our island life.

The Our World series will open its 2017-18 season with a behind-the-scenes look at our local commercial center, including some background on the owners, a look at overall priorities and goals for the complex and, of course, what’s next for our Main Street.

Join us for one of the final Our World presentations prior to the Sandcastle remodel.
